SPECIAL MEETING AGENDA 28 OCTOBER 2019
Figure 11: Allocation of existing and proposed public and private roads
Council’s Infrastructure Services have confirmed that the proposed distribution of public and
private roads by the applicant is supported given the condition of the existing private road,
maintenance costs and the appropriateness of Council having a public road servicing a private
development. The Hofmann Drive extension was supported as a public road acknowledging the
important linkage from Rene Street to Walter Hay Drive.
Pedestrian/cycle linkages
The Shire Business Centre Map includes bicycle and walking paths which provide connectivity
within and around the subject site (see figure 9 page 16). The paths include a link from the
existing Noosa Civic development to the eastern side of precinct E6, to the west of precinct E1
and north/south connectivity adjacent to the western boundary of precinct E6. As part of the
Information Request the applicant was requested to demonstrate how the provision of pedestrian
and bicycle paths and external connections from the civic space and transit hub to existing and
future development is to be achieved. In response to this request and further discussions
regarding pedestrian/bicycle connectivity the applicant provided a review of the existing
pedestrian and cycling facilities within the vicinity of the Noosa Business Centre and provided the
following pedestrian and cycle network plan.
