Not properly made submission (late) Shireen and Barry Power MCU12/0184
Subject: nzw BCS 1192 MCU 12/0184 Notice of Submission Shireen and Barry Power From: Power, Shireen Date: 2013-08-05T07:48:42+00:00 To: Internet Mailbox Sunshine Coast Regional Council We live along Belli Creek Rd West Cooroy and have great concerns re this proposal. When the wind blows from the south that farm will be really on t he nose. There does not appear to be good hygiene practices put in place What is going to be the collection and disposal method of dead chooks.? We can see there is going to be a big i ncrease in the fly population , The surrounding agricultural and beef farmers will love him, not to mention the ordinary folk living rurally. I am on the Top forestry and Old Ceylon Rd at least 3 times a week. I am very careful because the roads have blind corners and crests and are very narrow. The school bus uses these roads and there is a fair bit of traffic already .When the roads are dry one cannot see through the dust haze . There are plenty of close shaves already without Milligan bringing in extra trucks. From observation now the speed limit is not observed. There will a couple of feet of chook manure spread everywhere willy- nilly if proper arrangements aren’t made to collect and remove it properly . Avocado trees grow in a acid soil not a alkaline soil so spreading it around his trees doesn’t seem a real smart thing to do. Milligan has lived in the area long enough to know how heavy it rains here. We can see the manure being washed into all our waterways. Will these chickens spread disease through the native bird population plus there will be a big increase in crows if Milligan doesn’t dispose of dead birds properly.Imagine the smell! Please don’t put another nail in our clean environment out at West Cooroy. Yours Sincerely Shireen and Barry Power 519 Belli Creek Rd West Cooroy.
