RE Application No MCU 13/0087,99 Main Drive and 3&29 Lanyana Way Noosa
Heads
I write to express my great concern with the above proposal.
The overall development seems to represent an ugly and overpowering complex
which will detract from the community’s recreation facilities, impinge on beautiful
parkland, and provide a large outlet for liquor sales and consumption in an area which
is already over- supplied with such outlets. Moreover, the fact that this outlet will be
adjacent to the park will present a safety hazard to citizens who wish to use the
pathway in the park after dark and might be assaulted by inebriated drinkers.
There are very limited recreational facilities in the Noosa Heads region. The closure
of the Bowls Club and its replacement with commercial facilities is a retrograde step
which is contrary to the community’s well being. Every effort should be made to keep
the Bowls club going. It is a great activity for our retired people.
I believe the decision on this application has huge ramifications for the people of
Noosa. In my opinion such a controversial development should be held over for a
decision by the new Noosa Council.
Yours faithfully
