Ecological Assessment Report
4.2 Weed Species
Many weed species are present on site, including restricted invasive species listed under the Biosecurity
Act 2014 (Qld), including:
• Lantana (Lantana camera);
• Guinea grass (Megathyrsus maximus var. maximus);
• Cobblers peg (Bidens Pilosa);
• Singapore daisy (Sphagneticola trilobata).
A full list of weed species present on site is provided in Appendix 5.
4.3 Fauna Species Assessment
Fauna recorded on site include Eastern whipbird (Psophodes olivaceus), Laughing kookaburra (Dacelo
novaeguineae) Rainbow lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus), Australasian Figbird (Sphecotheres
vieilloti), Australian Magpie (Cracticus tibicen), Blue-faced Honeyeater (Entomyzon cyanotis) and
eastern water dragon (Intellagama lesueurii).
No threatened fauna species were found on site. Koala habitat trees are present on site, and the context
of the site in the larger landscape means that koalas would likely move through the site from time to
time. The property is considered to provide suitable habitat for a variety of threatened fauna species
which are listed in the area on State and Federal databases and the Atlas of Living Australia. However,
as the proposed development does not require the clearing of any vegetation, there will be no impact or
negligible impact on the habitat value of the property for any fauna, including threatened species.
No other threatened species are considered likely to exist on site. A full list of fauna occurring on site
during the site assessment is provided in Appendix 5.
4.4 Flora Species Assessment
No threatened flora species were found within the proposed development footprint area and none are
considered likely to occur, due to its cleared status.
The site is not mapped within a mapped high-risk area (i.e. an area where endangered, vulnerable or
near threatened native plants are present or are likely to be present) on the Protected plants flora survey
trigger map. Clearing of areas outside of mapped high-risk areas is exempt i.e. clearing of native plants
that are ‘in the wild’ can be undertaken with no need for a flora survey undertaken in accordance with
the Flora Survey Guidelines – Protected Plants (DES, 2019) or a protected plant clearing permit, or to
notify the department.
4.5 Habitat Assessment
Fauna habitat features of the site consist of resources (e.g. foraging, breeding, refuge and shelter
resources) of varying quality and condition, including:
• Foraging resources associated with native flowering plants (in particular, Eucalyptus, Corymbia,
Angophora and Acacia spp.) - nectar, pollen and insect prey items;
