Native Foresters 6.0 SUMMARY General 1. The owner proposes to construct a driveway and culvert crossing at 36 Roses Road, Federal. 2. The flora and fauna communities in the works impact area are in poor ecological condition. The vegetation is predominantly lining Skyring Creek, with sections of wet sclerophyll forest on higher elevated areas. Watercourses and wetlands 3. There is a regulated watercourse (Skyring Creek) containing semi-permanent water within the impact area. 4. Skyring Creek is mapped as High Risk (red) under DAF waterways for waterway barrier works (WWBW). 5. Mapped HES wetlands occur along Skyring Creek (within RE 12.3.1). Native Flora 1. Groundtruthed vegetation in the works IA is the same as mapped vegetation. 1. Ground-truthing of vegetation communities within the impact area confirmed the presence of 0.016ha of mapped vegetation community RE 12.3.1 – Gallery rainforest (notophyll vine forest) on alluvial plains (DETSI, 2025). It was also ascertained that approximately 0.0523ha is dominated by mixed high value regrowth containing 12.3.1/12.3.2/12.3.11 - Gallery rainforest (notophyll vine forest) on alluvial plains / Eucalyptus grandis tall open forest on alluvial plains / Eucalyptus tereticornis +/- Eucalyptus siderophloia, Corymbia intermedia open forest on alluvial plains usually near coast (DETSI, 2025), which is mapped along part of the proposed driveway area. 2. The vegetation within the impact area is degraded, with a high density of non-native species present. 3. Works have the potential to directly impact Category B regulated vegetation, that includes 0.016ha of Endangered RE 12.3.1. 4. One Threatened Ecological Community was present: RE 12.3.1 aligns with TEC Lowland Rainforest of Subtropical Australia, however the vegetation is moderately degraded and non-native species are co-dominant in the canopy. 5. The clearing impact area contains 2.6ha of suitable vegetation which was subject to the provisions of the flora survey. 6. No threatened flora species were identified within the clearing impact area during the survey. 7. There are three mature trees present adjacent to the impact area. The works plan will attempt to retain all mature trees, however some trimming of branches may be required. There is potential for works to disturb these trees and their TPZ. 8. Eucalypt species adjacent to the southern end of site are considered Koala Habitat Trees (KHT) and clearing of these trees should be avoided. Native Fauna 9. No threatened fauna species were recorded within the impact area during the survey. 36 Roses Road, Federal – Fauna & Flora Assessment 32
