GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 13 JUNE 2022
noted that datasets and monitoring programs will likely be amended and refined through the life of
the strategy as knowledge, available data and technologies improve or change.
It is noted that this is the first time Council has published such a comprehensive environmental
monitoring report and provides a key benchmark for long term (decades) performance and change
in the Noosa Biosphere. Over time this report will assist in determining management strategies
and actions, and hopefully also be a good news story in key metrics.
Summary of Progress
It was anticipated that by the end of the 2020/21 financial year, most of the long-term monitoring
baselines would be in place or well progressed.
Of the 12 targets, 5 have comprehensive baselines and established monitoring programs. 3 are
missing components of the metrics intended to be used for monitoring or are yet to be
comprehensively monitored and 4 targets where baseline data and monitoring programs are still
being developed.
