Noosa Civic Expansion — Stage 2

OBJECTION

Dear Sir/Madam,

We wish to submit our strong objection to the Noosa Civic Expansion, Stage 2, for the following reasons:

We run an internet based business and struggle to find qualified support staff in the Noosa area
as our community is not investing in suitable technology, infrastructure and training of our
school leavers. We object to additional retail space being installed in a location that would
ideally suit a technology park or innovation centre.

We objected to the opening of Noosa Civic stage 1 and for good reason. We have seen the dire
effect this retail centre has had on Noosa Junction, Noosa Village and Tewantin. The number of
businesses that have closed and subsequently resulted in empty retail space is soul destroying.
A walk around Noosa Junction and Mary Street Noosaville shows significant amounts of retail
and office space that has been empty/available for rent for over 2 years.

Noosa Junction is ideally situated at the centre of Noosa and we should be supporting the local
businesses in this area, not dragging consumers to a semi-industrial area.

Noosa Civic does not represent the nature of Noosa. Noosa residents tend to be passionate
supporters of small business and we should be focusing on creating a sense of community
instead of another generic, soulless shopping centre.

We object to the creation of more supermarkets and discount stores. Noosa already has
adequate supermarkets and discount stores. The creation of more stores will simply water down
the income of each store as the centre will not bring new business to the area.

A visit to Noosa Civic during the week is often like visiting a ghost town. The food court rarely
busy and the car park is never full. Simply adding more stores and parking will not attract more
people regularly and on a long term basis.

We reiterate that Noosa does not need more retail space. Noosa should be focused on creating quality,
technologically advanced employment to attract new business to the area. It is short sited and will have
a devastating effect on current business to create more shops.

Yours sincerely,

Trish and Nick Radge
