7. PROGRAM RESOURCES
Numerous resources have been created to assist Local Governments deliver LfWSEQ and to ensure
LfWSEQ members receive regular, relevant and practical support to undertake nature conservation
works on their properties. Some of these resources are shared across councils to assist consistency of
program delivery, ongoing evaluation and improvements to services. Resources can be broadly
categorised as those that support LfWSEQ members:
    • Prior to assessment
    • During assessment
    • Immediately after assessment
    • Ongoing.

7.1 Prior To Assessment
      • Website. The LfWSEQ website (www.lfwseq.com.au) provides a suite of resources for
potential/current LfW members and the public. It provides a step-by-step guide on how to
apply for membership and outlines broad eligibility criteria. Several resources such as
newsletters, notes and strategic plans are available here.
      • Brochures. Regional and council-specific brochures to promote LfW.

7.2 During Assessment
      • Property Assessment Form. This form (in either a hard copy or modified electronic version) is
used by council LfW Officers to record landholder and property information and to show
landholders examples of criteria used to assess the habitat values of their property. It
includes the LfW Agreement, which is signed by the landholder during assessment, if their
property is deemed eligible to join the program.
      • Property Maps. Maps are a key resource created by council LfW Officers to engage with
landholders and may convey landscape connectivity, mapped Regional Ecosystems and
geology. Maps can be used to help the landholder prioritise ecological threats and
conservation works across different parts (management zones) of their property.
      • Technical Notes. This series of 31 LfWSEQ Notes outlines the key principles of private land
conservation, underpinned by science, and offers practical advice on the management of
ecological assets and reduction of ecological threats. LfWSEQ Notes are offered to
landholders during assessment and are used as prompts by council LfW Officers to discuss
conservation issues and to support the advice provided by council LfW Officers. These
LfWSEQ Notes have been developed by the LfWSEQ program and are relevant to
environmental issues of private properties in SEQ.
      • LfW Signs. If a property is deemed Registered by the council LfW Officer, and the landholder
has signed the LfW Agreement, the council LfW Officer offers the landholder a LfW sign. The
landholder may choose to accept or not accept the sign. The LfW sign offers tangible
recognition of the landholder’s commitment and intent to manage their land for
conservation. Most LfWSEQ members choose to display their sign on their front entrance,
publicly promoting the LfW program and their involvement. The LfW sign should not be
affixed to a tree, but instead to a gate or fence. More than one LfW sign can be offered to
large LfW properties with multiple entrances and/or street frontages.

                                                                                                        9
