Support let. re 17 Emerald
Attached to the e-mail MCU15/0082 PM Submission Support - Betty Sutton.
The Chief Executive Officer Noosa Shire Council Dear Sir Re: Proposed Development MCU15/0082 (From vacant land to Community Uses – Well Being Type 2 – Social At 17 Emerald Street Cooroy I fully support the application of Cooroy-Noosa Genealogical & Historical Research Group Inc. For eighteen years, the Group’s volunteers have been tirelessly fund raising towards erecting a purpose-built facility. The objective of the Group is to promote and encourage the study and research of family history and to preserve the history and heritage of our local area. A research service is offered regarding local families, subjects and places. The Group holds a large collection of family and local history resources and photographs which complement those of the Cooroy Library, which no longer has a heritage section. The Group’s present facility is cramped and has a serious problem with dampness and mildew. An attractive building with landscaping at 17 Emerald Street will enhance the surrounding area and the quiet activities of this research facility will not cause any disturbance to the neighbourhood. Visitors are always welcome and assistance and information cheerfully provided. As a descendant of the early pioneering families of Kinmond and Duke, I am dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of the local area. A purpose-built heritage centre would be an asset to Cooroy and the Noosa Shire. Yours sincerely Betty Sutton Historian [email protected]
