_ Minister's message
6!
Lo] / The Palaszczuk Government is committed to economic growth and supporting
ae i Queenslanders to develop the skills to get a job.
The future of Queensland and our communities depends heavily upon the delivery of
eo training and skills services to enable individuals to achieve employment outcomes.
Our Government is delivering on its promises and has abolished the former Queensland
Training Assets Management Authority that was established to manage state-owned
training assets.
The Queensland Government recognises that growing the Queensland economy requires
investment in skills and training. To support the creation of jobs into the future we have
introduced a range of initiatives including:
* the Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative worth $240 million over four years, to
support up to 32,000 job seekers
¢ using advice from the newly established Jobs Queensland to inform training priorities
* reinvesting in TAFE Queensland to restore its status as Queensland’s premier public
provider of vocational education and training; and
¢ establishing the Queensland Training Ombudsman.
The development of a ten year Strategic Training Asset Management Plan for the future
of the State’s training assets is part of this Government's response to deliver investment
required to maximise training and skills outcomes for current and future generations of
Queenslanders.
This consultation paper has been developed at a state-wide level to seek a range of
views on the key issues influencing training and skills and about the assets that support
delivery of services by TAFE Queensland.
| welcome all interested stakeholders to submit their feedback on this consultation paper
and look forward to releasing the draft plan for further consultation in 2016.
