If Noosa's image is moving towards a clean, green, biosphere, then this
proposal for a chicken broiler farm takes us in the opposite direction.
It will be noisy, smelly, polluting and dangerous to the local human
community as well as cruel, wasteful, and inhumane for the chickens. By
comparison, the recently approved free range chicken farm at Melstead
Park in the same area, is a much better model for how an animal farming
and eating community would like the future to be shaped: their chicken
meat and eggs - even pre-production - are already in demand by
restaurants, cafes, and the community because the chickens are offered a
more natural life. We become what we eat and what we eat affects the
places we inhabit: let's not choose a future that is full of poisonous
shit, disrespectful and distasteful to our more-than-human world.
