3. Results
3.1 Matters of National Environmental Significance
3.1.1 Threatened Ecological Communities (TEC)
As predicted in the Protected Matters Search Tool (PMST), there was no mapped remnant TEC found
at this site, however it is identified as a TEC (‘Lowlands Rainforest of Subtropical Australia’) that is
regrowth or rehabilitating. As such, the ‘Significant Impact Guidelines 1.1’ of the EPBC Act would
deem the development proposal to not require referral to the EPBC Act.

The riparian zone of Cooroy Creek has over the past two decades, been the focus of several funded
projects to undertake revegetation and weed management. The aim of these projects was to move
towards regeneration of the Endangered RE 12.3.1 (‘Lowlands Rainforest of Subtropical Australia’
TEC) which was present on site before land clearance.

3.1.2 Threatened Flora
Under the Regional Ecosystem 12.3.1 classification there is potential for Xanthostemon oppositifolius
(Southern Penda), Fontainea rostrata (Deep Creek fontainea) , Macadamia integrifolia (Macadamia
Nut) and M. ternifolia (Small-fruited Queensland Nut), to occur on site. However, no individuals of
these species were found on this site

3.1.3 Threatened fauna
There are a number of fauna species that are listed within the EPBC that could potentially be found
at this site on an intermittent basis or have been sighted anecdotally in the past few years. Table 1
lists these species.

Table 1: Potential Species for LMS
Scientific Name Common Name EPBC status
Mixophyes iterates Giant Barred Frog Endangered
 Pteropus poliocephalus Grey-headed flying-fox Vulnerable
 Phascolarctos cinereus Koala Vulnerable
At the time of the survey none of these species were observed. However the survey was undertaken
in winter when detection of Mixophyes iterates (Giant Barred Frog), or any frog species, is difficult.

                                                                                                           15
