Ecological Assessment Report for Proposed Hinterland Adventure Playground – Noosa Shire Council
August 2109 by Noosa & District Landcare
3.4 Watercourse and drainage features
The LMS has a ‘major water course’ as defined by the Water Act 2000 of Cooroy Creek running
through the centre of the site and is a section of the Upper Mary River subcatchment (Figure 13).
In times of extreme heavy rainfall events the site can become inundated.
No listed wetlands, lakes or springs were detected on site.

3.5 Fauna habitat and potential breeding places
Potential habitat breeding examples can be found in hollow bearing logs, log piles, and hollow
bearing trees (Figures 14, 15 &16). Present was a Pseudocheirus peregrinus (Common Ringtail
Possum) drey in the edge of the park area (Figure 17). Also present are a number of potential
breeding sites for reptiles and insects including butterfly larvae attracting plant species.
Past surveys of the creek water habitat indicated a good creek quality with a reasonable abundance
and diversity of macroinvertebrates, with average low turbidity. This reading varies dramatically
during rain periods or rain events. A macroinvertebrate survey and water quality survey was not
required as part of this project undertaking however NDLG recommends this to occur as a means of
monitoring construction work impacts.
