Ecological Assessment Report for Proposed Hinterland Adventure Playground – Noosa Shire Council
August 2109 by Noosa & District Landcare
5.0 Recommendations
The following is a list of recommendations to protect the Cooroy Creek riparian zone and
surrounding environmental values:
Best Management Practice implemented for the protection on in-stream habitat values,
including sediment barriers such as silt traps, coir logging and sediment traps.
Macroinvertebrate survey and water quality monitoring upstream and downstream of work
areas to assess water quality throughout the construction of the project.
Minimal disturbance of the revegetated Riparian zone of Cooroy Creek through exclusion
fencing and demarcation of areas of value.
Due to the timing of the survey conducted for this report, it is recommended another
amphibian and reptile survey to be carried out any time during the period of October
through to February at peak activity times where species occurrence is more readily
confirmed.
If a permit for vegetation removal is granted, fauna spotters are to be in place to aid in
removal and relocation of ALL present native species (protected under the NCA) during
riparian clearing and construction works, in particular Adelotus brevis (Tusked Frog) and
Mixophyes iterates (Giant Barred Frog).
