Environmental Noise Level Study for Proposed Service Station and Fast Food Premises, 6 Taylor Court, Cooroy Page 9 of 15

CONCLUSIONS

It is proposed to develop the subject site at 6 Taylor Court, Cooroy with a service station and associated
shop and a fast food premises. This proposed development would operate 24-hours per day. Potential
noise sources associated with this proposed development would include:

   fuel delivery – semi trailers;
   passenger vehicle and fixed and articulated truck movements on site;
   service yard and carparking;
   forecourt activities; and
 service station shop and fast food premises plant and equipment.

The closest residences to the subject site and their associated separation distances are as follows:

   west, on the eastern side of Ferrells Road, approximately 450 metres;
   east on the northern side of Nandroya Road, approximately 360 metres;
 south-west on the eastern side of Ferrells Road, approximately 430 metres.

To assess current ambient noise levels an extended (7-day) ambient noise assessment was conducted
from 72 Ferrells Road, from the front (western) boundary of this property. The permission of the owners
of this private property is appreciated and acknowledged. This property was selected as one with the
quietest ambient noise levels, as it is one of the more distant properties from the Bruce Highway, as
throughout this area traffic noise from the Highway dominates.

Based on the calculations detailed in this report all potential noise sources associated with the proposed
service station and associated shop and a fast food premises comply with the noise limits at all of the
above closest residences, for the complete 24-hour day. To achieve this compliance with the noise
limits no additional noise control measures are required.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that, from an environmental noise perspective, the proposed service station and
associated shop and a fast food premises be approved, with no noise control measures required for 24-
hour operation.
