Planning Assessment
The application seeks to replace the existing priceboard sign at the Tewantin Bougainvillea BP
Service Station. The sign is currently on the property boundary in front of the bowsers facing Noosa
Cooroy Rd. The sign is being replaced with an illuminated priceboard sign as per BP requirements
for up to date changes in fuel pricing.
The sign will be in the same location and of a similar height and width to the existing sign. The sign
is a similar height and scale of illumination compared to those recently approved on Eumundi Noosa
Rd as shown below.

The Noosa Plan’s Advertising Devices Code seeks only one pylon sign per site with a maximum
height of 5m and a maximum of 10m2 of advertising permitted per site. Although there is another
pylon sign on the site (associated with the caravan park), there is only one pylon sign associated
with the petrol station. Considering the large frontage and mix of uses on this frontage, as well as
the sign is only replacing an existing sign, the proposal will not result in a proliferation of signage and
visual clutter.


In accordance with similar pylon signage approvals in the area - the following specific conditions are
recommended to be imposed to ensure the signage is suitable for the location:
   -   The approved signs must be positioned wholly within the property boundaries of the subject
       site and must not be located within or across any easements.
