The Vipassana Centre is a not for profit organisation freely offering residential courses at no charge. The course includes lodging and meals for 10 days. The teachers conducting the course, managers and kitchen workers all provide their services on a voluntary basis and receive no remuneration. This enables all donations to be spent on the running of courses and development of the Centre. Donations can only be accepted by course participants who have completed the 10 day course. With up to 2200 annual participants on courses, not to mention 4 month waiting lists to be accepted onto courses, the Centre has been able to slowly and steadily develop ideal facilities to accommodate people of ail ages, backgrounds, beliefs and cultures including those with disabilities. Due to such a strong demand for courses from both local, interstate and overseas, 4 years ago the Vipassana Trust decided to prepare a secondary application to increase the numbers substantially to meet this need.

With the advent of COVID-19 and in order to meet Queensland Health guidelines, courses have now been reduced from 65 to a maximum of 25 students per course. With such a low number of participants the Centre is barely covering running costs at this time. As we are sure you appreciate, for organisations such as ours the costs of lodging a Development Application are substantial and we have puta great deal of effort and expense into procuring flora, fauna, bushfire, traffic, wastewater and other relevant reports. Hence we would be deeply grateful for any consideration you are able to afford our request. You are welcome to contact Mr John Hanna, Mobile: should you require any further information. Yours sincerely, Al- ’ MCA Anne Doneman Centre Teacher Vipassana Centre Queensland
