Potential hard and soft mitigation measures have only been identified for major Council roads. Local roads
that have been identified as areas with very high connectivity and potential to be a high risk koala strike area
should be investigated further. Of interest are local roads that form part of a major tourist route and local
roads where speeding is an issue. Viewland Drive and Weyba Esplanade (Figure 8d) were identified in the
modelling and confirmed by local koala organisations as a high risk area due to high connectivity and
numerous koala sightings. The road is a tourist route that is located within Noosa National Park and leads to
Laguna Lookout. The speed limit along this road is 40km/hr, however, a high proportion of speeding motorists
have been observed. Weyba Esplanade has several koala signs and a reduced speed limit, however motorists
residents have complained about speeding motorists. It is recommended that koala signage is installed along
