The Cooroy Chamber of Commerce Inc would like to submit a letter of support
for the Myall Street development MCU14/0056. The Cooroy Chamber of
Commerce has been in operation in Cooroy for over 40 years, has 130
organisations as members including both community groups and businesses and
has extensive community networks.

For over a decade, the Cooroy Chamber of Commerce has had clear indication
from residents, visitors and business owners that overnight caravan parking,
additional tourist accommodation facilities and an information centre for Cooroy
are all much needed. The Cooroy Chamber of Commerce has for many years
attempted to secure these for Cooroy through discussions with state and local
government with little success to date. It heartens us to see this development
addressing all of these issues.

Our assessment of the project is that it will have minor if any negative impact on
the community and will provide significant positives including additional jobs,
attracting tourists to the town, providing information about the town and
encouraging stays of a few days which is likely to provide economic benefits for
existing retailers and service providers. In addition, the existing storage facility
in Cooroy is generally at capacity so additional storage units would also be a
benefit to locals who currently store goods in neighbouring areas such as
Eumundi and Kunda Park. The inclusion of a car wash when many locals are on
tank water is also seen as a benefit to many of our residents.

We believe the project appears to be of benefit to Cooroy and in addition the
developers have had a long association with Cooroy and a good track record with
the community.
