MCU170049 Response to Information Request
Attached to the e-mail MCU17/0049 - Response to Information Request - 8 Mckenna Ct, Noosaville.
Date: 29 June 2017 The Chief Executive Officer Noosa Shire Council, PO Box 141 Tewantin QLD 4565 Response to Council’s Information Request in relation to an application for Development Permit for Material Change of Use of Premises - Home Based Business Type 3 - Swim school at 8 Mckenna Ct, Noosaville (Council Reference MCU17/0049). I refer to Council’s Information Request dated 14 June 2017. Please find below a response to each item raised. Information Requested 1. Revised schedule and/or operating hours which accord with each other Response The client was seeking formalisation of an existing home based business. As such, the hours proposed were the maximum hours, classes and students for the current operating schedule. However, on reflection it is proposed to formalise hours for each day of the week to allow for flexibility in the operation of the swim school. Please see a revised schedule proposal below in response to Information Requested 2. Information Requested 2. A revised schedule which accommodates a 30 minute break between classes, the schedule should include details of the starting time for each class. Response Our client has advised that a 30 minute break between each class would not be viable for the operation of the home based business. Alternatively, a 15 minute break is proposed which would be sufficient to ensure that no overlap would occur and a practical operation of the business. While it is acknowledged that council has adopted 30 minute breaks for exercise classes, the proposed classes only cater for 3 children and are not of a scale or intensity that cause a significant traffic generation. Our client would be happy to put in place a strict management policy to ensure customers would come and go within this 15 minute window. Given

the low traffic volumes, however, it is considered to be low risk in nature and
would not impact on the efficiency of the external road network in any case.

4. Clarification as to whether it is proposed to replace the existing fence
to the eastern boundary or develop an acoustic fence within the
subject site.
Response
It is intended that the existing fence will be retrofitted to become the acoustic
fence. It is likely that a lapped timber fence will be provided (minimum 40%
overlap) that has a minimum surface density of 10kg/m2. It could be
conditioned that an appropriate acoustic fence be constructed to council’s
satisfaction.
