Subject: Submission Short Term Accommodation 3 Robert St From: Jeanette Gentle Date: 2020-11-24T01:34:40+00:00 To: Mailbox Council Mail I object to a development permit for a material change of use on this property for the following reasons: * The area between the western side of Robert St, Janet St, Cloudsley St and Laburnum Terrace is one of the few places in Noosaville where predominantly houses are occupied by a permanent owner population. For example 16 Janet st/corner of Robert St; 17 Robert St; 7 Robert St are permanent resident family homes. Units at 11 Robert St include permanent rentals. When the Noosa Plan was reviewed residents in this area were keen to safeguard it from Airbnb, so that they are not forced to leave, when the area became unliveable because of Airbnb encroachment e.g. noise, street jammed with cars, issues with rubbish, loss of sense of community through not having a permanent population etc. People who have recently moved into the area are all permanent residents who chose this area to avoid the negative impacts of Airbnb. There is no point having a Noosa a plan if Airbnb is going to be approved through a material change of use of the property application. * Robert St is getting more and more congested. Already there is an overflow of cars from resorts on the eastern side of Robert St which means on weekends and times of high occupancy, it is full of parked cars, which also park up on footpaths. 3 Robert St is likely to be an Airbnb property which will be rented by multiple families because of its size and to reduce accommodation costs. If you approve more holiday accommodation along Robert St access to the road becomes more and more problematic.
