PM Submission - Spencer Hitchen - 132008.176.05
Subject: Settler's Cove Resort - Objection letter From: Spencer Hitchen Date: 2023-08-18T05:03:21+00:00 To: Mailbox Council Mail, NC Councillors, Mailbox Planning, Clare Stewart, Amelia Lorentson, Joe Jurisevic, Brian Stockwell, Tom Wegener, Frank Wilkie, Karen Finzel CAUTION: This email originated outside of Council. Do not open links or attachments if the email is unexpected or unusual. To all recipients, I disagree with the settlers cove resort development and believe it should be rejected. This development site contains Glossy Black-Cockatoo and Koala habitat and saving a few trees does not offset the loss of yet another important habitat. We need to learn from Grasstree Court and protect habitat especially for threatened species. Now that Grasstree Court has been destroyed we cannot afford to lose any more habitat for Glossies or Koalas. I have observed chewing under trees at this site and this habitat is used often by the Glossies. I believe that the Glossies are not getting enough nutrients from the cones of their favoured feed trees as they are moving around their territory staying for short periods of time where they would usually stay for a long period. I would like to scientifically look int this with council’s help. I would like to have a meeting with you all to discus this further. Please see attached maps below showing the implications of this development on the Core Koala Habitat corridor. Thank-you Spencer Hitchen . . .
