review period.
In addition to normal review of Works identified in each section of the specification,
the Landscape Architect shall be required to review the following key points:
a) Setout of all items (planters, pathways and paving, walls, furniture, lighting etc.)
b} Drainage works Including sub-surface drainage
c) Soil placement
d) Plant Setout prior to planting
e) Practical Completion
f) Off-Maintenance
“All structural, hydraulic, elactrical etc. work is to be Certified by a registered testing
Finished Levels and Grades
Refer to civil Engineers Drawings.
Services
Verify location of all services on site and on the road reserve prior to
commencement of Landscape Works, Contractor is responsible to make good
any damage to services or other works,

Root Control Barriers . ‘
Supply and install root barrier using nytex (dimpled) root barrier 600 x 3000 y
parallel to kerbs & pavements where tree is <3m from hard surface. Install root |
barrier to 1500 each side of the tree trunk. \
Irrigation
Establishment Irrigation to tees & garden beds by water truck if irigation
system unavailable.
\f directed Inigation system run trom water tanks to be Design & Construct.
Maintenance
Establish and maintain works for a period of twenty-six (26) weeks during which

authority / engineer where required,
The Contractor shall seek confirmation of inspection points which are to be
nominated by the appropriate engineer prior to work commencing,
SECTION 2 LANDSCAPE INSTALLATION PROCEDURES,
Site Work / Grading:
Finish Levels - In general the areas to be landscaped have been graded to finish
levels as provided by the civil engineer. Therefore, utility manhole lids, overland
flow paths, footpaths etc., are set and the contractor should work to civil levels, This
means that any work, including paving, edging, etc., should not be placed on top of
these finished grades. Excavation must take place to allow for correct placement to
finish levels set by the civil engineer.
Co-ordination with all other trades is required with regards to utilities, paving,
lighting, irrigation and water supply by others, etc.
The Contractor is to:
= provide erosion and sediment control measures to any disturbed areas caused
by landscape works.
= Carry out trimming of any disturbed areas caused by landscape works.
- implement dust control measures to disturbance caused by landscape works.
+ femove soil and other debris from roadways at the end of each day.
= remove all waste from site, Bins to be provided by Contractor.
- develop a traffic control plan and implement as required.
- take all necessary precautions for the safety of the public, the Contractor's
employees and conform to all of the regulations as required by The Workplace
Health & Safety Act 1995 and all subsequent amendments,
Hardscape Installation:
Setout is to be reviewed in the field by the landscape architect prior to construction.
All concrete pathways are to be constructed and reinforced per Sunshine Coast
Regional Councif's Footpath Design Standards,
In general - hardscape items are to be set at finished levels as discussed above.
In general - curvilinear footpaths and concrete edges are to be installed with smooth
Continuous curves shown on the drawings with no flat or angular transitions between
curves os forming members,
100x19mm timber edging is to be installed flush with turf, kerbs and pathways, with
soil set down 100mm at the header (on the planter side) to allow for the placement
of 100mm specified muich.
‘The contractor is to provide 2m x 2m samples of each paving colour-and finish for
review and approval,

Planting:
SITE CONDITIONS - tn general the site is greatly impacted by drying winds,
and heavy clay soils. Therefore planting and handling of plant
40 prevent the rootbails from drying out and experience has shown
that once the plant material has become stressed the recovery time can be lengthy
effecting the quality of the job.’ THE CONTRACTOR MUST HAVE A WATER TANK
DURING ALL PLANTING OPERATIONS TO MIX AND APPLY SOIL.
AUGMENTATION RECOMMENDATIONS,
Plant material handling is important. Tha plant material must be monitored and not
allowed fo dry out while in storage. Bring only the plants that are required for that
particular days setout to the area to be planted.
PLANTING PROCEOURES-
Planting for trees and shrubs should be completed in one continuous operation as
oullined below. '
1. Stake out street tree locations or setout shrub plantings for review and approval
by landscape architect. 5
Adjust for any conflicts with ilities ete.
. Excavate pits for street trees ‘or shrubs.
. Pit sizes - Width is 2 x Diameter and Depth is Height of Rootball + 200mm.
. Install drainage & root barier as required.
tree plumb and at the appropriate elevation, allow tor settling with
jjudicated topsoil lightly compacted.
Set shrubs and face in visually cohesive groupings.
6. Backfi imported top soil in layers to avoid air pockets, Lightly compact
and water settle in layers. ,
7. Construct temporary earthen watering basins and water regularly until
is installed. }
8. Stake trees - stakes are td be vertically driven to uniform heights. Ties are to be
at uniform heights, t

Mulching: i
Planter beds - Install 100mm of consolidated 25mm Hoop Pine mulch to be 25mm
