Attachment 3—Further advice
General advice
1. An existing TransLink bus stop, “Ferrells Rd near Overlander Ave” (TransLink Stop
ID: 301955), is located on the Ferrells Road site frontage. There is no existing
footpath along Ferrells Road and the submitted plans do not propose footpaths to
the existing bus stop.
The Department of transport and Main Roads recommends that council should
require pedestrian connectivity between the development (namely the Tourist Park)
and the existing bus stops located in Ferrells Road.
2. The existing TransLink bus stop, “Ferrells Rd near Overlander Ave” (TransLink Stop
ID: 301955), is likely to be impacted on by the development during construction. The
bus stop must be able to function and pedestrian access to this facility must be
maintained during the construction of the development.
Accordingly, if any temporary bus stop and pedestrian access arrangements are
required during the construction of the development, the applicant must reach
agreement on suitable arrangements with TransLink (3338 4493).
3. In accordance with the Department of transport and Main Roads Roadside
Advertising Guide (RAG), the location of the proposed advertising device fronting the
Bruce Highway is within the Device Restriction Area and will pose a potential
distraction and risk to motorist safety.
Any future application for Advertising devices facing the Bruce Highway in this
location will not be supported pursuant to s43 of the Transport Infrastructure Act
1994 (TIA).
Road access works approval:
4. Under sections 62 and 33 of the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994, written approval
is required from the Department of Transport and Main Roads to carry out road
works that are road access works (including driveways) on a state-controlled road.
Please contact the Department of Transport and Main Roads on 07 5451 7055 or
[email protected] to make an application for road works approval.
This approval must be obtained prior to commencing any works on the state-
controlled road reserve.
The approval process may require the approval of engineering designs of the
proposed works, certified by a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland
(RPEQ). The road access works approval process takes time – please contact
Transport and Main Roads well in advance to ensure that gaining approval does not
delay construction.
Please note, it may be necessary to dedicate land as road in order to accommodate
the road access works that comply with the Department’s conditions.
Road corridor permit
5. An application for a Road Corridor Permit is required for any ancillary works and

encroachments on the state-controlled road under section 50(2) and Schedule 6 of
the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994 and Part 5 and Schedule 1 of the Transport
Infrastructure (State-Controlled Roads) Regulation 2006. Please contact the
Department of Transport and Main Roads on 5451 7055 to make an application for a
Road Corridor Permit.
Ancillary works and encroachments include but are not limited to advertising signs or
other advertising devices, paths or bikeways, buildings/shelters, vegetation clearing,
landscaping and planting.
