iWBNM2019 version BETA September 2019
WARNING: This is a BETA version and has not yet been subjected to thorough testing! Please email the bugs you find to the iWBNM Development team, see www.wbnm.com.au
iWBNM is an MSExcel based user interface for WBNM2019. It can be used for building, checking, running WBNM models and then viewing results. iWBNM leverages general user familiarity with MSExcel to provide an efficient model building tool. This version of iWBNM has been tested on Excel 2013 and Windows 8.1 64-bit. Every effort has been made to make the interface simple and intuitive. A typical work flow for model construction will generally move left to right and top to bottom sequentially through each worksheet.
Disclaimer: iWBNM is a tool supplied free of charge in the spirit of making hydrologic modelling a simpler task. Whilst we have tried to minimise any issues, please understand that hydrologic models constructed using iWBNM may unknowlingly contain errors. We advise you to always check the runfile using a text editor before relying on results, and of course we won't take responsibility for errors or issues arising from use of iWBNM.
OVERVIEW OF WORKSHEET FUNCTIONS
Run Worksheet with import/build/run command buttons and where the 'Preamble' block, 'Status' block and Project INI file parameters are defined.
Cat Worksheet where catchments, lags, losses and flowpaths are defined ('Topology', 'Flowpaths, and 'Surfaces' blocks)
Des Worksheet where design storms are defined ('Storm' block)
Rec Worksheet where recorded storms (hyetographs) are defined ('Storm' block)
Str1 Worksheet containing the core information for structures ('Local Structure' and 'Outlet Structure' blocks)
Str2 Worksheet containing additional information for structures (Outlets, HSQ, Tailwater Rating, Basins) - Database tables to the right, simplified viewer on the left ('Structure' block)
R1 Results Sheet 1 - Peak Summaries
R1_f Allows filtering of results on Sheet R1
R2 Results Sheet 2 - Extract Hydrographs
R3 Results Sheet 3 - Summary from critdes.out file
Hyd Advanced - by default hidden sheet where imported / recorded hydrographs can be defined ('Storm' block - ADVANCED WORKSHEET)
Sta Advanced - by default hidden sheet where stage hydrographs can be entered for comparison purposes with the WBNM computed stage hydrograph ('Storm' block - ADVANCED WORKSHEET)
IFD Advanced - by default hidden sheet - ARR87 IFD Database ('Storm' block - ADVANCED WORKSHEET)
L Advanced - by default hidden sheet - Lite version of iWBNM for simple applications
i Hidden worksheet to store parameters for macros.
TIPS / KNOWN ISSUES
A iWBNM19 imports old file formats, but no longer supports writing out in pre2019 formats.
B ARR Gauges must be stored as .csv files in the runfile .wbn directory
C ARR87 Gauges can be used but external files are no longer supported, coefficients must be entered on IFD worksheet in iWBNM
D IMPORT Option: "All design storms have the same gauges", gauges per version type will only show once in the Design Gauge table
E Note that WBNMRun.exe uses ARI for 1987 design storms, but AEP for ARR 2019 design storms!
F Storm specific losses are not supported, only one loss model per build file (fixed per catchment). iWBNM2019 imports the losses in the first storm in the Run .wbn file.
G Whilst the WBNM engine supports GLOBAL losses, this has been removed from iWBNM2019 for simplicity, as FILL buttons are provided on the catchment sheet
H Writing of coordinates in the Display Block is currently not supported by iWBNM2019. Do this manually in text editor if important to you.
I When downloading BOM IFD file you must use MGA coordinates not Lat Long, or WBNMrun.exe will not run.
J Keep in mind, if you run a Duration Spectrum, the 7 day storm patterns will be run and will take a substantial amount of computing time. Use Project Ini to constrain durations
K If you crash out the Structure Viewer on Str2, then save and re-open iWBNM, as variables need to be re-initialized
L Scourable weirs are not viewable in the Structure Viewer on the Str2 sheet, but can be edited easily from the Outlet Database adjacent
M WBNMRun.exe has issues with HSQ local structures, problem to be determined. Use a HS structure instead.
N WBNMRun.exe only supports 1 SINK! Use a dummy subarea instead of multiple SINKs
O iWBNM does not support writing out of manual Raingauge Weights, this needs to be edited in the .wbn file manually via START_INPUT_RAINGAUGE_WEIGHTS
P Areal or Point Pattern files per ARR Design Storm are supported.
