Key goals/objectives to which this project will contribute
Council Vision: Different by Nature
Emissions reduction
The CCRP will identify the initiatives to be undertaken to achieve net zero emissions for Council and the
community by 2026. This will contribute to Noosa Shire being one of the very few regions that achieve a
net zero emissions target well in advance of the global Paris Agreement requirements of net zero
emissions by 2050.
Community Resilience
The CCRP will also provide a road map for building community preparedness and resilience to climate
change across different sectors including for temperature increases, heatwaves, changes in average
rainfall, drought, coastal hazards, floods and major storm events. This will place Noosa Shire in a unique
position of having a comprehensive climate response across both climate change adaptation and climate
change mitigation (emissions reduction).
