Environment Committee Meeting dated 9 July 2019 and authorise the CEO to enter into a 3 year
Network Member Agreement with Healthy Land and Water as provided in Attachments 1, 2 and 3.
REPORT
Healthy Land and Water (HLW) has approached Council to request that it enters into a new three
year funding agreement for delivery of their Core Programs in Noosa.
BACKGROUND
Council has been a member of the HLW network (formerly Healthy Waterways) for the past 18
years. HLW is an independent organisation with over 20 years’ experience in working to improve
South East Queensland’s natural environment.
In partnership with government, utilities, private industry, traditional owners and community groups,
a suite of innovative and science-based solutions affecting our waterways, landscapes and
biodiversity are delivered across South-east Queensland’s major river catchments via HLW’s Core
and Core Plus Programs.
Components of these programs which Council has valued and supported from inception, include
monitoring the health and condition of the Noosa River catchment and the annual Report Card,
guidance regarding urban stormwater treatment solutions in new developments, and monitoring
the recreational water quality of Noosa’s bathing reserves.
Council’s current agreement with HLW expires on 30 June, 2019.
HLW Network Member Agreement
The new Network Member Agreement with HLW outlines Council’s financial contributions and
terms of the agreement for Noosa from 2019 to 2022 (refer Attachment 1). The total funding amount
for the new agreement has increased from the previous 2016-2019 agreement by $3,880 due to
CPI.
