Source: ABS 2006 and 2011 Census, Foresight Partners estimates
At June 2013, the base year of this needs analysis, the total market area’s usual resident
population is estimated at approximately 5,250 people residing in 2,150 private dwellings.
The year ending June 2017 is the expected first full year of trading for the retail
component of the proposed development, and 2021 it’s fifth. Over the whole of the
forecast period 2013 to 2021, it is estimated that the trade area will grow modestly by
about 590 new residents in about 260 additional dwellings, reaching a population of 5,840
residents in 2,410 private dwellings.
3.3 Socio-economic Characteristics
A summary of the key socio-economic characteristics of the proposed centre’s trade area
as at the 2011 Census is shown in Table 3.2. Data for the Sunshine Coast and
Queensland are included as benchmarks.
