Further submission from applicant 13.10.2023
| am sure Council is aware that the fallout from Covid 19, the rampant inflation of the last 24 months, staff shortages and the increased costs incurred by our local businesses as a result of all | have mentioned has created a perfect storm for our businesses. Once completed, this proposed development will generate significant economic benefit to the businesses located in our business precincts (Noosa Junction, Hastings St, Noosaville river precinct) and will assist in marketing the Noosa brand as a whole to a wider domestic and international audience. We note that Council’s Development Assessment Manager considered the zoning and stated, “The current mapped Recreation and Open Zone, was a consequence of it not being adequately demonstrated, at the time it was created, that further encroachment would not result in amenity impacts on guests of a resort.” It is the Noosa Chamber’s belief that the planning scheme should be a directional document rather than a restrictive document and, when applications are considered, social, environmental and economic benefits should be taken into account. This proposal meets the test of having no negative social or environmental impacts AND providing significant economic benefits. We wish GH Australia every success and we are pleased to support their application to Council. Yours sincerely Ralph C. Rogers President
