pavement, drainage channels, water, sewer, footpath, and various levels of cut and fill that will
require all vegetation to be removed, including some Core Koala Habitat.
The total area required to be cleared within the access handle of Carpenters Road has not been
addressed by the applicant with Council’s Senior Environment Officer advising that it is difficult to
accurately estimate the total area of Core Koala habitat to be cleared. Council’s Senior
Environment Officer notes that any vegetation clearing within the Core Koala Habitat Area that is
over and above the allowable exempt clearing area of a one off 500m² and/or 500m² for linear
infrastructure would require referral to SARA for assessment. Any clearing undertaken that takes
advantage of the exempt clearing available will remove any future ability for Council to utilise those
exemptions as the combined 1000m² exemption is only available once for a property. A
conservative estimate of a 5-metre-wide corridor along the eastern boundary for the sewer
instalment comes to approximately 600m².
