The Selection Panel, in conjunction with the Consultant, determined the Position Description,
Candidate Information Package, Selection Criteria, national advertising program and the
proposed terms and conditions for the future contract of employment.

In respect to the range of the total remuneration package for the position, the Selection Panel
was guided by an independent detailed evaluation from a professional firm, engaged by the Chief
of Staff, and with expertise in the area of Local Government Chief Executive Officer
remuneration.

Applications for the role closed on 16th December 2013 and the Selection Panel have agreed on
a shortlist of candidates for further assessment and interview on 9 and 10 January 2014.

The Selection Panel’s recommendation for appointment is scheduled for presentation to the
Council’s Ordinary Meeting on Monday 13th January 2014.

BUDGET & FINANCIAL ASPECTS
The costs of the recruitment process will be provided for in Council’s six month Budget.

RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Recruitment Consultant to the Ordinary Meeting dated 2
January 2014 on the recruitment of the CEO and:

1.     Formally endorse the decisions and actions taken to date as detailed in the report; and

2.     Authorise the Mayor to negotiate with the successful candidate and sign a Contract of
       Employment on behalf of Council that generally accords with the terms, conditions and
       parameters agreed by the Selection Panel and contained in the published Candidate
       Information Package.
