3. Fresh elections
The Minister will determine and confirm, by gazette notice, the day for the elections,
which are likely to be in the last quarter of 2013, as outlined in section 9 of the
LGDIR.

The elections will be conducted by the Electoral Commission Queensland subject to
the provisions of the Local Government Electoral Act 2011.

Each new council will be responsible for the cost of the fresh elections. These costs
will be de-amalgamation costs pursuant to section 35(1)(d) of the LGDIR.

Neither the continuing council chief executive officer (CCEO) or transfer manager
will have any role in the conduct of the elections.
