3 Water Reticulation

3.1 Existing Infrastructure

A review of Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) data has confirmed the location of existing water reticulation mains
within the Trading Post Road and Prospect Place road reserves to the south of the subject site.

An existing 150mm uPVC water main is located with the Trading Post Road reserve to the south of the subject
site with additional water mains currently under construction within the surrounding stages of the Palm Lake
Resort, Cooroy.

The design documentation for the existing Palm Lake Resort stages is included within Appendix E with the
DBYD data included within Appendix D.

3.2 Development Water Reticulation Demand

The proposed development’s water reticulation demands on the existing potable water infrastructure were
established using the methods described in the SEQ WS&S D&C Code. These demands were used to
determine the consumption rates for the proposed development. Potable water demand factors and flow
parameters have been taken from Table 4.1 and Table A17, respectively, to determine the potable water
consumption rates for the proposed development.

The results are presented in Table 3.1.

Table 3.1: Water Demand Factors and Consumption Rates (Palm Lake Resort, Cooroy – Stage 6 Only)

Design Parameter Stage 3 Potable Water Factors
 Area of Land 0.5796 Hectare

Peak Hour (PH) / PD 2.0
 PH / AD 4.0
 AD 7,020L/day or 0.0813L/sec
 MDMM 10,125L/day or 0.1172L/sec
 PD 13,230L/day or 0.1531L/sec
 PH (Maximum) 25,650L/day or 0.2969L/sec
Fire Flow 15L/sec for 2 hours
 Peak Hour Demand 15.297L/sec

The maximum hour demand of 0.2969L/sec plus the fire flow demand of 15L/sec equals a total flow demand
of 15.297L/sec. With a maximum velocity of 2.5m/s, the proposed multiple housing would require a minimum
internal diameter of 88mm. Therefore, it is proposed to utilise the proposed 100mm diameter potable water
mains to service the proposed development.
