INNOVATIVE NEW EXPORTERS BOOST
REGIONAL ECONOMIES

Introduction

Companies that continually look for ways in which to expand their businesses beyond regional borders, are successful companies.
Companies that export tend to be smarter than their competitors and exemplify best practice in Queensland business.

With the committed support of the Noosa, Maroochy and Caloundra Shire Councils, the Queensland Government and the Australian
Trade Commission, through the New Exporters Development Program, is working closely, and successfully, with local companies, to
assist them in identifying and pursuing global export opportunities.

Over the past twelve months, a range of innovative local companies have been extending their horizons to markets including the
United States, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia and the Maldives.

Some of the successes being achieved include:

Promotions in Motion

With a manufacturing headquarters in Noosaville, Promotions in Motion is literally, hitting the world stage.

The firm was created by internationally renowned puppeteer, David Poulton and mime artist, Mark Tietjens. Out of their
backgrounds in theatrical production and puppetry, the dynamic duo have created an export product line that brings a little of the
stage to the retailer.

David and Mark design and hand make animated themed modular window and in-store displays, which have featured in corporate
and shopping centre Christmas displays throughout Australia.

Having had such success with retailers in Australia, Promotions in Motion undertook a preliminary market research visit to the
United States in late 2002, and several follow up visits to conclude commercial negotiations. Less than 2 years later, they are on the
verge of securing a lucrative deal for the supply of animated modular displays to one of the United State’s major retailers.

AeroJump

As a sporting nation, Mooloolaba company AeroJump, seized upon export opportunities to introduce their bungy trampoline to
Mexico and South Africa in 2004.

Based on a concept first seen at the Barcelona Olympics, AeroJump manufacture and operate a bungy trampoline amusement
experience’.

Currently, the company has contracts to operate the AeroJump bungy trampoline at all major shows in Australia, including the Royal
Melbourne Show and the Sydney Easter Show. The amusement ride is also located during peak vacation times at the Mooloolaba
Beach, Brisbane’s Southbank Parklands, Lorne and a number of other venues throughout Australia.

Having sold bungy trampolines to Mexico and South Africa in 2004, the company is currently in negotiations for the sale of
trampolines to Turkey, the Philippines and Japan.

Mukti Botanicals

What commenced as a small home based business in Caloundra Shire in 1999, is now expanding to become an innovative Australian
leader in the export of unique eco-cosmetics.

Ms. Mukti Lloyd, Managing Director and Founder of Mukti Botanicals established her business in 1999, having become increasingly
frustrated with being unable to decipher exactly what chemicals skin, body and hair care products contained. Supported by several
tertiary qualifications, Mukti has created an extensive range of beauty products, using exclusively certified organic, botanical
ingredients, natural vitamins and minerals.

Mukti Botanicals commenced exporting to Hong Kong in June 2004, and is currently in discussion with importers of eco-cosmetics
in Korea, Malaysia and the Maldives.
