Minor Change Application - 191 Hollett Road, Noosaville

 In each plot a distance of 3 m was surveyed away from tree trunks and searching continued until
such time that a Koala scat was recorded or every tree greater than 10cm diameter at breast height
        (DBH), irrespective of species surveyed.
 In plots where the regrowth did meet the size indicted above, this was noted in the results.

                             Plate 1 Example 100 m transect with three 100m 2 plots
The KRAM assessment was completed on a single field assessment on Wednesday 27 February 2019. The
weather on the date of the survey was warm and overcast with intermittent rain showers. A total of five
transects were selected located within patches of regrowth long enough to accommodate a 100m transect
(Figure 3 of Appendix C). A random number generator was utilised to record three numbers and transects
were measured with a secondary measuring tape to ensure the plots surveyed were 10 x 1 m. The
groundcover within 3m of the base of a qualifying tree was scanned for Koala scats. This was achieved by
sorting and removing the layers of leaf litter, sticks and bark with gloved hands and sticks. Refer to Plates 2 -
7 below.
Limitations of the site specific KRAM Assessment included:
 The presence of exotic grasses in Transects 3 and 5 marginally reduced the visibility of the survey
for Koala scats (refer to Plate 5); and
 Transect 4 was characterised by thick regrowth of 50-100 cm DBH. In several areas the thick Broad-
leaved paperbark (Melaleuca quinquenervia) regrowth reduced access for the Ecologists to
complete the Koala scat survey, notwithstanding the scan in these areas was considered adequate
to determine the presence or absence of Koalas in this transect (refer Plate 6).
