Effluent disposal report
1.0 Introduction: Biowater Designs Pty Ltd, in accordance with AS/NZS1547-2012 ( Domestic Wastewater Management ) and the Queensland Plumbing & Wastewater code (QPW) 2019 Version 1, was commissioned to undertake a Site & Soil Evaluation in the Noosa Council at 5 Figbird Ct, Lake McDonald. The results form the basis of our recommendations for on site wastewater disposal. Our Site investigation and field work was performed on Wednesday 25th September 2019 after a period of dry weather. The investigation was undertaken to determine the soil profile and Long Term Acceptance Rate (LTAR) of the site in order to accommodate a proposed new 5 bedroom dwelling and shed with possible amenities. NOTE: This evaluation was undertaken at the owner’s request after considerable discussion regarding environmental issues of this site and preferred design of the Land Application Area. . 2.0 Site Description: 2.1 Existing Buildings: None 2.2 Site Factors: The site is an acreage allotment the area is 2.244ha. The site borders Lake McDonald at the rear. The proposed Land Application Area is at the front of the site and slopes away from the lake. The proposed Land Application Area is moderately sloping (5%) to the South-West. The proposed Land Application Area has fair exposure to sun and wind due to large trees in the owners preferred location. Area oversized to compensate for fair exposure. Very good nutrient uptake. Erosion, mass movement or land slip was not observed on this site. Rock outcrops are not evident on this site. There are no creeks, or bores on this site or adjoining properties within the required setbacks of the proposed Land Application Area for Advanced Secondary class effluent. There is a dam and grassed depression towards the rear of the property. Setback requirements under QPW Code for Advanced Secondary Effluent can be easily obtained. Ground water was not encountered on this site during our investigation to a depth of 900mm. There is no fill in the proposed Land Application Area. Flooding will not occur on this site. Rain water will transverse this site from adjoining properties during heavy rains. Concentrated run-off from this property will transverse adjoining properties during heavy rains. Soils were dry and there is no evidence of soil surface cracking. No evidence of compaction or seepage areas. Salinity is not evident. 3.0 Soil Investigation: 3.1 Drainage Pattern: Linear Planar 3.2 Method: Soil Testing for the site was with a hand auger on 25/09/2019 to a depth of 900mm in the proposed Land Application Area. The existing soils were visual one textually classified in accordance with AS/NZS 1547:2012 Table E1. The soils were predominately grey/brown in colour. Weakly structured Loamy Sand - Category 2. Slight coherence; forms a fragile cast that just bears handling; gives a very short 5mm ribbon that breaks easily; discolours the fingers. Site Classification was conducted by DEQ (Design Engineers Queensland) and give a Slab Type “M” and classification “P”, due to trees of potential influence. Articulated joints may be required and must be designed by a qualified person. C Copyright Lance Picton 2019 design & content. 2/8
