7.3 Noosa Housing Stakeholder Reference Group workshop
Workshop background
Bringing together a diverse cohort of representatives from across the housing sector and community, the Noosa Housing Stakeholder Reference Group (HSRG) was
established to work with Council on the development and implementation of the Noosa Housing Strategy as well as provide advice on what needs to be done to
increase housing choice and affordability in the Noosa Shire.
As part of the community engagement on the draft Noosa Housing Strategy, members of the Housing Stakeholder Reference Group participated in a half-day
workshop on Monday, 25 July 2022 that focused on:
• better understanding the barriers, the group and Council could face;
• opportunities to increase housing choice and affordability; and
• what needs to be done to change community perceptions about social and affordable housing.
Workshop objectives
The objectives of the workshop were to:
• identify how the Housing Stakeholder Reference Group can champion the draft Noosa Housing Strategy;
• identify roadblocks to the successful implementation of the draft Noosa Housing Strategy;
• identify ways Council can change perceptions of social and affordable housing; and
• identify next steps in the partnership with Council.
