7.3 Noosa Housing Stakeholder Reference Group workshop
Desired outputs

At the start of the session, members of the Housing Stakeholder Reference Group were asked
what they hoped to get out of the workshop. Responses identified the following desired outputs:

        •   how to get good engagement on the draft Noosa Housing Strategy;
        •   understand the housing needs that must be addressed;
        •   identify potential short-term and long-term housing solutions;
        •   develop a list priority actions for Council;
        •   confirm timelines the Housing Stakeholder Reference Group is working towards; and
        •   set a clear direction for the Housing Stakeholder Reference Group moving forward.


Actions from workshop

At the conclusion of the Housing Stakeholder Reference Group workshop, participants agreed to
the following actions:

        • a thorough analysis to be conducted on what housing is needed in the Noosa Shire.
        • consideration be given to ways that both Council and HRG can reassure the
          community that any new affordable and social housing would complement Noosa’s
          character and values.
        • consideration be given to how Council can define its role in implanting the housing
          strategy in all future communications to better manage community expectations.
        • Council to resource a public education campaign to change community perceptions.
        • Council to ensure the use of plain language in all collateral and messaging.
        • Council and HRG to engage stakeholders at key milestones during any public
          awareness campaign.
        • Council and HRG to customise key messaging in support of the Noosa Housing Strategy
          to specific demographics within the community.
        • Council and HRG to identify communication tools to ensure there is widespread
          community understanding and support for the Noosa Housing Strategy.
