State Planning Policy – Natural hazards, risk and resilience (SPP, December 2013, latest version December 2019) replaces
State Planning Policy 1/03 Mitigating the Adverse Impacts of Flood, Bushfire and Landslide. The SPP Guideline – Natural
hazards, risk and resilience provides a methodology for determining Bushfire Hazard based on Potential Fireline Intensity.
The methodology and hazard mapping has been included in Section 6 of this Plan in establishing the adjacent area to the
west as a bushfire prone area.

The SPP Guideline contains assessment benchmarks to ensure that State interests are appropriately considered in relation
to natural hazards, including bushfire hazard areas. These provisions serve as general guidelines to either avoid or
otherwise adequately mitigate bushfire risk. Specific guidelines for bushfire hazard overlay codes are yet to be provided by
State Government, and this detail is addressed by this Plan in terms of meeting the current requirements of Local
Government in Section 8 above.
