WEED REMOVAL
1. SITE MANAGEMENT
All areas of the site to have weed removal treatment where weeds exist.
These areas are to be inspected and all existing indigenous species are to
be identified, marked and suitable protection measures implemented. This is
to be undertaken by an experienced contractor and verified by the landscape
superindentent.
All debris such as plastics, building materials and other dumped vegetative
matter is to be disposed of appropriately and at regular intervals and not
stockpiled on site unless written instructions from Superintendent.
2. IDENTIFICATION OF WEED SPECIES
All weeds listed in the Land Protection (Pest and Stock Route Management)
Act 2002 and sub-ordinate Regulation 2003, the Maroochy Pest
Management Plan 2006-2010 (pest species of significance in Group 1,
Group 2, and Group 6) and the Noosa Planning Scheme Policy 3
(Landscaping Plants and Guidelines) - undesirable plants list must be
removed from the site in a manner that minimises regrowth, prevents
damage to non-target weed species and retains indigenous vegetation and
conservation values.
3. WEED CONTROL METHODS
All treatment of weed species is to be undertaken following best horticultural
practises to ensure minimal disturbance to, and protection of, existing native
species that are being retained. Soil disturbance must be kept to a minimum
to prevent or increase any potential erosion.
When using chemical treatments, ensure manufactures instructions and
recommended guides are adhered to. Ensure all practical measures are to
be taken to prevent any contamination to ground or water bodies. Remove
any soil or material contaminated by chemicals or substances detrimental to
human or plant growth in a safe manner.
All noxious weed seed and plant material must be collected and disposed of
off-site in an appropriate manner at a council refuse facility.
After all weed removal has been completed all areas marked for revegetation
are to be covered with clean site mulch to a nominal depth of 50mm. Ensure
mulch is entirely free from noxious weeds, rocks, roots, rubbish or any other
deleterious material.
4. GENERAL NOTES
All works are to be supervised by staff experienced in weed control and
native vegetation rehabilitation works.
Recommended species should be sourced from local provenance suppliers
to ensure indigenous stock is reinstated.
