SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 8 JUNE 2021
user if there is a separate lane for the bus to speed past parked cars. The parking at Hastings
St Lions Park needs to cease as this causes a traffic jam! and parking at the woods end of
Hastings St needs to be charged for. More free buses in Noosa everyone whizzing around
happy!
- It is not free. It is a Noosa shire ratepayer sponsored bus service. If prime locations had pay
parking it may be more successful and financially independent freeing rates for use for better
bike paths. The logo of a bush turkey is just obscure.
- | think it is a fabulous initiative. | think cars should be banned from Hastings Street during the
peak holiday periods. Encourage people to park and ride from the Junction. The traffic in
Hastings Street and going down the hill was just crazy. Walking down the hill was much faster.
- Why do you reduce parking spaces? Prime tourist season and you had 20-30 odd car spaces
blocked off behind the police beat. The 2 minute drop off parks? What a joke. You took 2 car
spaces along Noosa parade as a drop off zone...either side of that you have 2 10 minute
parking zones...so 6 spaces that can’t be used for locals, tourists and workers?? Defies logic.
The 2 spaces on the hill near The Rise Resort??? For the love of God...Why???
- We took the bus at about 7.30am in Noosaville to meet friends for breakfast in Hastings St. |
was astounded that there were only 3 passengers on the bus and traffic into Noosa was
already at a standstill. | think that Hastings St should be turned into a pedestrian mall over
summer, with car access limited to certain times for deliveries and accommodation. There are
numerous cities that do this well. Perhaps there could also be digital car parking signs to say
when the spit and National car parks are full. This would potentially stop more people trying to
drive in and out so much.
- Stop the free bus service or give us that cannot use them in the Hinterland a rate rebate.
Charge out of State or even out of Shire visitors more for parking than local or to use the bus
service my rates pay for!
Request for Free Buses outside of Noosa Shire (4 comments)
- The 631 Bus was not free but people tried to get on it anyway. Why can't it be free once it
enters the free bus zone, it would stop confusion and confrontation with bus driver. Also many
people expect to not pay, once the free bus service is finished. Information about where to get
a Go Card should be more advertised and the bus drivers should be able to sell Go Cards,
maybe using a bank Card given the Covid restrictions. | see many people not paying for travel
when | take the bus and feel that the expectation is reinforced by the Free bus service. Perhaps
people could purchase a cheap holiday travel card as an alternative. | know there is a Go Card
like this at present. A huge number of those travelling free were young people who do not
drive, many of whom were just travelling up and down for something to do. As a ratepayer |
think that those who can afford to stay in Noosa should make some contribution to the Free
bus service if they are using it.
- It is a great initiative, but it needs to be ALL buses in the Noosa Shire to avoid confusion,
embarrassment and disappointment.
- Misleading not all buses free
- Needs to be for all the sunshine coast wide
Staff comment: TransLink ticketing system does not allow for free travel on services that travel
outside of the shire. All marketing material lists which services are free. Sunshine Coast Council has
previously declined a proposal to offer free buses in the Sunshine Coast local government area.

- | would not choose to utilise this service again unless there were changes to make the service
more reliable
- The App is completely useless on my iPhone 6
s It’s disgusting how the driver has driven past my son of 16 heading to gym at Noosa civic All
Brindle and George Street at 4:47 pm Easter Monday a ratepayer for 15 years
Staff comment: At peak holiday times bus services are not always able to run to schedule due to
