congestion however the TransLink App provides real time bus information to advice passengers of
delays and next service.
The Go Noosa App was not actively promoted as it is still under development but future roll out will
review compatibility (e.g. iPhone 6)
Public holidays generally run to a Sunday timetable. Buses displaying “out of service” are generally
on route elsewhere.
Passenger Assistant at Noosa Heads (2 comments)
- Have a customer service person at Noosa Heads
- Great having concierge Sunbus staffers at Hastings St stop
Staff comment: A Passenger assistant is employed at the Hastings street bus interchange on
predicted busy days (weekends and public holiday).
Request for service to Noosa National Park (1 comment)
- Thank you terrific service. We do wish however there was a shuttle between Noosa Heads
Station and Noosa National Park lot as there is never parking available there.
Other
- Spruce up Noosa heads bus station, disgraceful
Staff comment: Hastings Street Bus Interchange is part of a future options analysis project.
- If the ferries were free | would use them. They are too expensive for me to use occasionally.
Staff comment: Ferry is run by an external commercial operator. The operator offers frequent
travellers pass half price for locals and 30% discount for visitors. The 10 visit pass can be used over
the entire year.
- Buses too noisy. Go electric
Staff comment: Council lobbying TransLink regarding electric bus fleet for Noosa.
- Pedestrians should be prioritised at pedestrian crossings by traffic control personal. IE a single
person with no other pedestrian in sight (So no need to wait for others to let a group cross
together) should have priority over cars as it is after all a pedestrian crossing. | observed a
single person with no others in sight approaching the crossing been made to wait for a minute.
Whilst cars were waved through.
Staff comment: Traffic control under evaluation and review to refine processes.
67% of respondents stated that based on their experience on the free buses they would be more
likely to catch a bus (outside of the free holiday period) in the future. This percentage is increasing
each year.
Value for money:
As TransLink already subsidises the existing public transport bus routes, Council is only required to
fund loss of passenger fare revenue, this results in a very cost effective services with an average cost of 78
cents per passenger trip. In contrast, the fully costed additional services averaged $2.89 for the 065 Loop
Bus and $8.18 for the 064 Peregian to Noosa Head's service.
By comparison, outside of the free period, a one way journey using a TransLink Go card from
Tewantin to Noosa Heads is $2.70 between the hours of 8:30-3:30pm weekdays and all day on
weekends and $3.37 per trip during morning and afternoon peak times.
Refer Table 2 below for a breakdown of the Easter and Christmas cost per passenger by service.
