Feedback:
Bus drivers appreciated the traffic control assistance in getting in and out of the Hastings street
precinct at what is a very busy and stressful time of year for bus drivers.
Feedback from a long term restaurant owner on Hastings Street over Easter was that there was an
enormous amount of traffic coming in & out of Hastings Street but with the provision of traffic control
congestion was minimised with traffic flowing smoothly and a minimum of queuing and wait time.
63% of Easter Go Noosa survey respondents stated that the traffic control were effective at
prioritising the movements of buses, pedestrians and vehicle flow with 30% unsure.
Value for money:
The Traffic Management Plan used the least amount of traffic controllers to achieve the desired
outcomes and comply with safety regulations. The Traffic Management Plan has been developed
to be scaled up or down depending on weather and traffic conditions with Council only paying for
traffic controllers when required.
Areas for improvement:
° Continue to refine the traffic control procedures and conduct
e Consult with the community and residents to provide feedback
° Continue to consult with Hastings Street Association on the number and location of
wayfinding signage
e Work within safety standards to improve the uniform of traffic controllers to ensure the‘Noosa
look and feel’.
6. Initiative: Noosa Heads Lions Park — Car Park
The Noosa Heads Lions Park was utilised as a paid carpark at a flat fee of $20 over the September
2020 school holidays, Christmas 2020/21 school holidays, Easter 2021 school holidays, and Anzac
Day 2021 long weekend (May Day 2021 long weekend was cancelled due to wet weather). The park
was managed by the Tewantin-Noosa Lions Club on Council's behalf.
Operational effectiveness:
The Tewantin-Noosa Lions Club have managed paid parking at the Noosa Heads Lions Park for
over 20 years and are very familiar with operating the paid parking.
