PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 9 AUGUST 2016

Wimmers Lane
A 36m wide ‘roll over’ kerb is proposed in Wimmers Lane to accommodate HRV and MRV delivery
vehicles as shown in Figure 10 below.

Figure 10 – Location of the ‘roll over’ kerb

Council’s traffic consultant suggests that such a wide ‘roll over’ kerb is not a preferred outcome as
it is not ideal for pedestrian movements. However, The Noosa Plan encourages Wimmers Lane
for vehicle use (such as a service laneway) and there is no future planning to suggest otherwise.
The extended crossover is supported by Council’s engineers and conditions are recommended
requiring detailed design at the operational works stage.

Garnet Street sight lines
In year 2027 at peak hour the modelled queue length from the Garnet St/Myall St/Maple St
roundabout will impede sight lines of right turn vehicles leaving the site. The queue length is
projected to be 32.9m (4.6 vehicles) meaning that 1 vehicle length will impede the sight line. While
this is not a preferred outcome, the queue is also modelled to be moving relatively quickly in a slow
speed environment. It is considered this minor impediment at peak hours in 2027 for only for a
short period is acceptable to maintain the safety of those turning right. Figure 11 provides a
depiction of the 2027 situation.
