PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 9 AUGUST 2016
Figure 5 – Extract of Ground Floor Level Plan
Vehicular access to the development is via a single driveway off Goodchap Street. 31 car spaces
are proposed at ground level in front of the building entrance and the remaining 95 car spaces are
located in a basement carpark with its entrance toward the rear of the building near the site’s Val
Crescent frontage.
Landscaping is proposed around the perimeter of the site, including screening trees and shrubs,
but due to the extent of the construction footprint, is unlikely to include the retention of any mature
trees on the site. Podium garden beds are also proposed adjacent to the buildings front entrance.
The development is proposed primarily to meet the expansion needs of Noosa Radiology. Noosa
Radiology currently occupies approximately 700m2 within the Noosaville Medical and Professional
Centre (to the southeast on Goodchap Street) and employs 4 clinical radiologists and 30 support
staff. The applicant indicates the expansion and operational needs of Noosa Radiology are for at
least 1,000m2 of contiguous space, with the additional space to house angiography suites, PET
(positron emission tomography) imaging and training facilities. Neither the angiography nor PET
imagining services are currently provided in Noosa, with patients currently having to travel
elsewhere on the Sunshine Coast.
The report is before Council due to the significance of the proposal and the conflicts with The
Noosa Plan.
