EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Director Corporate Services to the Planning & Organisation
Committee Meeting dated 31 March 2015 providing an update on Council’s Plant and Fleet
Replacement Program.
REPORT
Following the establishment of Council on 1 January 2014 a comprehensive independent review
of Council’s plant and fleet function was undertaken to ensure that key issues were identified
early and appropriate mitigation measures put in place. A number of recommendations were
made surrounding fleet strategy, systems and structure, and these recommendations are being
progressively implemented.
Also included in the review was a comprehensive assessment of the current condition of
Council’s fleet and plant, with a 10 year replacement program developed for the 100+ items
owned by Council (excluding small plant items). The review identified that Council needs to
invest significantly over the next 5 years to renew its plant and fleet asset base, as a result of the
age and condition of plant and fleet items transferred from Sunshine Coast Council.
