INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 15 SEPTEMBER 2015
It is important to note that not all social issues are the responsibility of Council. Other tiers of
government, as well as businesses, community organisations and residents all have a role to
play. The Strategy also suggests collaboration of organisations or service/facility providers to
avoid duplication and improve efficiencies.
Proposed Consultation on Draft Strategy
Public review and feedback will occur after Council’s endorsement of the draft Social Strategy.
The draft Noosa Social Strategy will be made available for public exhibition and comment for a
period of 30 business days. Community consultation methods will include:
media release;
Council’s webpage listing;
community and stakeholder feedback via ‘Your Say Noosa’, Library and Council Pop Ups
and Community Connections e-newsletter (targeting not for profit organisations in the
Shire);
continued engagement with service providers and targeted stakeholders throughout the
Shire to refine the key initiatives and develop a detailed action plan.
Outside of the community engagement activities identified above, Council officers will also meet
again with the relevant State and Federal agencies to obtain feedback on the draft, develop an
implementation plan and determine areas where partnerships could occur.
Feedback and advice received by Council within the specified consultation period, will be
collated, reviewed and provided to relevant stakeholders for consideration prior to the
development of the final Strategy.
