Bushfire Evacuation Plan v1 NCES REF: J000542

                           BUSHFIRE EVACUATION PLAN

1. INTRODUCTION
This Bushfire Evacuation Plan (BEP) has been designed to assist management to protect life
and property in the event that a bushfire threatens the proposed development on Lot 9 on
RP225312 located at 100 Cooyar Street, Noosa Heads, QLD (herein referred to as ‘the site’).
The site is the subject of a proposed Material Change of Use (Aged Care Facility Renovations)
development application to be submitted to Noosa Shire Council. The proposed development
will occupy the south eastern extent of the site.
The BEP aims to establish pre-planning guidelines for an evacuation of the premises where
there is a need to relocate personnel from one place to another to enhance the protection of
those people. This evacuation plan forms part of a more comprehensive report undertaken
over the subject area to assess and recommend fire mitigation measures for bushfire
protection; Bushfire Hazard Assessment & Management Plan by North Coast Environmental
Services. Application of this evacuation plan does not specifically require reference to the
above document however it is recommended both documents be stored together.
The proposed development will increase the number of people within the site. The decision to
enact a bushfire evacuation is generally a managerial decision until the point that an official
evacuation recommendation is issued by QFES and/or QLD Police. QFES currently offer
advice via Twitter, Facebook, QLD Police and local radio stations. The current QFES warning
/ evacuation categories are shown in Plate 1.

Plate 1 – QFES warning / evacuation categories

Given the extent of hazardous vegetation in the vicinity of the site and surrounding the site, the
decision to evacuate is strongly recommended to be made earlier rather than later.
