GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 17 NOVEMBER 2014
1. The project will develop the paid artist’s professional life
2. The project will benefit the community, both directly and indirectly
3. The project is well planned and achievable
4. The project will increase the sustainably of quality and diverse creative communities
In accordance with RADF Guidelines, committee members were required to declare any conflicts
of interest and once declared the committee member was then not involved in related
deliberations.
Assessment was a two stage process. First individual RADF committee members assessed
applications, and then the whole committee discussed outcomes, allocated funds to successful
applicants and provided final comments on all submissions.
RADF funding notification
Following endorsement of this report, successful grant applicants will be notified by mail including
a letter of acceptance for signature by the applicant.
Unsuccessful applicants who do not meet the grant criteria or who are not funded due to lack of
available funds will be advised in writing. Feedback is provided by the assessment panel on
areas of the project or application that may be improved.
Previous Council Consideration
RADF Funding has been supported and administered by Noosa Council since 1996. RADF
funding was continued by Sunshine Coast Council from 2008–2013. Noosa Council delivered
their first RADF round in March 2014 for projects starting after June 30, 2014 and this is the
second round of RADF grants for 2014. Noosa Council has funding in its 2014/15 budget for two
funding rounds, with another available in March 2015.
Finance & Risk
The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) program is jointly funded on a 50:50 basis by the
State Government (Arts Qld) and Noosa Council. Traditionally, two funding rounds are run each
financial year.
The 2014/15 Noosa Council budget has funds allocated for two RADF grant rounds. This is the
first grant round in the 2014/15 financial year and there will be a second grant round in March
2015. The total available amount for each of these grant rounds is $20,000.
There are no risk implications.
Promotion
Promotion of this RADF grant round included media releases to newspapers, social media
(Facebook) and the distribution of posters and postcards to key arts and community
organisations. A series of grant workshops were held by the RADF Liaison Officer and Grants
Officer at local libraries and other Council venues. All relevant information and support
documentation was posted on the Council website.
Staff also attended face to face meetings with individual applicants and responded to telephone
enquiries and emails.
The RADF committee members also promote the RADF program to potential applicants in their
networks and communities.
