2. Project Management Improvement Activities
In early January the project delivery staff undertook a re-profiling exercise and developed a more
robust project monitoring tool. The re-profiling exercise was not only a mid-year review but a
stocktake of required resources to complete this year’s capital works program. The key outcomes
included the confirmation that Council was in a position to deliver the majority of all projects by
the end of this financial year should the good weather conditions continue.
In addition a project dashboard and project summary document was developed to clearly
highlight projects at various stages within their respective delivery stages, as well provide an
overall update on individual projects and highlight project risks, responsibilities, status and
budgets. The project dashboard will be presented and demonstrated at the Infrastructure and
Services Committee meeting on the 31 March 2015. The project dashboard will then be utilised
in the future as an information tool for all projects being delivered within the organisation for
future Committee meetings and at any other time a specific request for project updates is
required.
3. Summary
The overall planning for delivery of the capital program remains on target with all of the projects
either commenced or completed. The increases in construction activities will further continue
over the next 3 months to complement the re-profiling of the timing of the budget spend.
The current year to date expenditure including actuals and commitments totals $12.5m. This is
below the original forecasted expenditure profile. However, in recent months a concentrated
effort of resources that complements the recent re-profiling activities of all projects will see the
majority of the 2014/15 capital works program either completed or nearing completion by the end
of June 2015.
Previous Council Consideration
The capital works program has previously been distributed to Councillors (document titled
“Capital Works Program 2014/2015”).
